Representative terms include 星期 (xīngqī, week or weekday), 打算 (dǎsuàn, plan to), 旅行 (lǚxíng, travel), 建議 (jiànyì, suggest), and 要是…就… (yàoshi…jiù…, if…then…). These examples are included for analysis only.
Grammar priorities
- Dates use a consistent year/month/day order; spoken dates commonly use 號.
- 打算 introduces an intention and is followed by a verb phrase.
- 要是…就… links a condition with a result or plan.
- 應該 gives advice without making it as forceful as a command.
- 還 can mean still, also, or even depending on context.
Common learner mistakes
Learners may mix up month and day order, overuse 要 for every future meaning, or omit the result clause after a conditional. Build plans with realistic uncertainty: “If the weather is good, then…” and “I probably plan to…”
Study plan
Write a weekend itinerary with two alternatives. Explain what you plan to do, what you recommend, and what changes if the weather or schedule changes. Read it aloud without translating word by word.
